Mary Alice Palmer is a creative innovator, trailblazer, and ambassador of the path untraveled
in the hospitality and residential interior design industry with an incredibly diverse career
spanning 30+ years. As a true multi-disciplinary artist and designer, Mary Alice’s career
trajectory has soared across creative categories. After graduating from Parsons School of
Design, she embarked into the world of luxury residential interiors and architecture in New
York, then to set design on feature films and television in Los Angeles, and next founding an
iconic line of handbags and accessories before synthesizing her varied experiences into the
world of hospitality interior design. An inherent interest in art, design, and culture, was
cultivated through extensive travel with family in her early years which evolved into a
lifetime of wanderlust resulting in a uniquely imaginative perspective that defines Mary
Alice’s ability to craft stories through great design.
Driven by an insatiable curiosity, Mary Alice harnesses an entrepreneurial mindset with a
desire to create immersive and sensory-driven destinations – a perspective that has carried
through her career, coalescing into her role as Global Creative Director and Founding
Partner of ROAM Interior Design, a newly established hospitality interior design firm. As the
leading creative force within the practice, Mary Alice exudes her remarkable ability to weave
unique stories and translate her design philosophy authentically, delivering compelling
solutions underscored by meaningful innovation and held together through a captivating
narrative.
Mary Alice’s portfolio spans international waters, continents, and over 20 countries, each
location offering an imaginatively unforgettable experience and unique story, reflected in
every design detail and enhanced by nature, history, folklore and contemporary arts and
culture to develop a truly rare sense of place. Notable projects include a wide range of
luxury and lifestyle destinations such as the W Hotel Bellevue, Washington, Hotel Saint
George in Marfa Texas, Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort in the Dominican Republic, Auberge
Resorts Bishops Lodge, Santa Fe and Esperanza, Los Cabos, Mexico which received the
